What Got You Into Training/Competing: My boyfriend Corey Hayes talked me into trying powerlifting after training me for a few months and seeing my potential.

Who Have Been Influential People In Your Training/Life: Corey Hayes, Kara Bohigian Smith, and Brandon Lilly.

What Are The Greatest Challenges You Have Faced As An Athlete: Beginning my training for my very first competition. My form was terrible and I wasn’t very strong starting out. It was very discouraging but after sticking with it and finding the right stance for each lift, it all fell into place.

How Is Your Training Structured Going Into Competition: I implement a 16-week high volume based training cycle.

If You Could Go Back In Time And Give Yourself Advice When You Started Out Training, What Would It Be: Be patient! I started out thinking that building strength with perfect form would take no time. I spent a lot of time and frustration just learning that powerlifting is like a marathon, not a sprint.

What Is Your Best Asset and Biggest Weakness As A Lifter, Either Mental or Physical: My best asset is my work ethic in the gym. My biggest weakness physically is my upper back, I literally have to hammer it every workout session to keep it up to par with the rest of my body.

What Is Your Typical Diet Like: I’ve been carb back loading for the past 3 or 4 months.

What Upcoming Comps Do You Have? What Are Your Goals For Those: My next competition is the SPF Women’s Pro/Am in Cincinnati, OH on April 13th. My biggest goal is to break the world record in squat for the 123-weight class. Other than that I just plan on hitting decent meet PR’s for the other two lifts, I don’t like to keep specific numbers in mind because I feel like that can be limiting.

Any General Thank Yous: I would like to thank Corey Hayes for getting me started in the sport and being a great coach and supporter. I’d also like to thank my parents Rick and Rhonda Trout for supporting me in every way possible.
